Which Way Do We Go?

I know this life can be a bit confusing at times. Even after we become a member of God’s family we’re not somehow magically whisked away out of the darkness of this world, on the contrary, now we’re instructed to be a light shining within the darkness, to walk in faith standing against a world that opposes our every step.

As if contending with the world wasn’t enough we also find we’re in a struggle to stand in and for the truth when so many come against us with their cleverly crafted doctrines which often results in confusion, and we know who the author of confusion is. Most times it’s pretty easy to spot once you recognize the main stratagem of the enemy, the first obviously to keep a soul from Christ in the first place, after that has failed, to then lead us astray with various doctrines that are merely rabbit trails leading to dead ends in hopes of rendering us ineffective in leading others to Christ.

It’s not that hard to spot teachings that are in error once we understand a few key elements that is usually what the whole doctrine is hinged upon, legalism, i/e it’s the grace of Jesus Christ plus >>>___________ fill in the blank. He died upon a cross to shed His healing and atoning blood to set us free once and for all, free from the bondage of sin, free from the bondage of the law, the enemy now comes on the scene, no different than he did in the garden, “has God indeed said”?
Jesus said “This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent”. John 6:29

The enemy says “Faith isn’t enough, you must also labor, toil, work, belong to this church or that church, be sprinkled, be completely submerged, be held under the water until ya really repent, the list goes on. Naturally we will change, He doesn’t leave us as we were, yet it’s through the Spirit we become conformed into His image, it’s His work in us that makes it so, not a result of our efforts lest we begin to boast.

I know I bring this up quite often probably due to my own need of reminder but He loves us so very much, we cannot disappoint Him cuz He already knows the end from the beginning, He is therefore beyond being surprised. Knowing every step we would make along the way before we ever made them and yet He accepted us, He then seals us and He assures us, the author and finisher of our faith, He knows how to keep unto that day that which is His own.

“…Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ;” Phil 1:6

So which way do we go? Don’t let anyone confuse the issue with all their legalistic mumbo jumbo putting a yoke upon you in which Christ never intended, just follow Him, He will be no means lead any of us anywhere but unto the Father!

  1. Word!
I have always wanted to say that, and this fits. However, as I see my reflection in the TV, it looks sort of stupid seeing a old man use terminology meant for teenage gang bangers. Ho, well. bb

  2. Good post, as usual Rocky :). Legalism tries to kreep it’s way in from all directions, doesn’t it? Thanks for the reminder. I’m gonna do some reading here tonight. I have been really busy with snowpreperation, and then getting all my pics from b.c. before I shut down my profile. It was allot of work, but all done and on a disc. Like bb sounds, I’m amazed how much I can do on my laptop. I’ve only had it a yr. and a half now. Before that I used webtv remember? Blessings brother…and hey Brent. Blessings to ya both, Robin
