  1. Hhhhmmmm……

    Rather interesting…

While I can’t lay claim to actually having seen that many epitaphs in a cemetery, in person that is, I have seen many different styles of epitaphs online.

Something I have noticed, is that epitaphs tend to reflect in some capacity on the life of individual, and possibly his/her death.

Rarely have I seen epitaphs that celebrate the life that follows, that of the followers of Jesus, as to our being with Him.

Kudos, as silly(funny) as your post may seem at first glance, I think it has far deeper roots of truth than we might at first think.

I must thank you, for causing me to stop and think, to remember even, that what we ultimately seek, will not be found in this life, and that it is only through the transition of death unto life, that we will really see the Truth of Life first hand, and meeting Him, and of such is our Hope!

  2. ahh_me2….thanks, isn’t that exactly why we are here? To make each other stop and think? When I ran across this little saying I wasn’t thinkin so much about what would be said or written about me, as I was just being with my Master…walking with Him, talking with Him, learning from Him. Standing in awe of Him. I suppose in my view that is truly chillin’ with Him on a daily basis after death….and quite honestly it seems like an eternity until that day comes, yet also as though tomorrow with Him is just around the corner. I can hardly wait! I love your perspective on this…thanks for posting. Nonni~~

  3. Nonni,
Great post – simple and to the point. Something many times, okay whom I kidding, most the time I have a hard time with. Yet, you have elegantly said; what I hope to be doing some day.

This reminds me of a story I heard from Chuck Missler, don’t know if I can get it right but here goes.

He spoke about a man stating on his headstone: “here lays a man who not only climbed the ladder of success, but achieved his heart’s desire – it is unfortunate that he was leaning the latter upon the wrong wall”

Rather this story is true or not, how unfortunate it would be – no, how unfortunate it will be for many of those set their heart upon things of this earth, upon success, money, love, and pleasure; only to find themselves having achieved so little compared to what is really important in life, only realized in death.

Yet most of all having lived for self, with only self to live with through eternity in hell.

We often think of the punishment of hell concerning the reward of the unbeliever, yet often I think of the isolation; yet even worse so is a lack of the presence of God within that tortured environment.

What we don’t think about is how much worse this world would be if God vacated it – it would not last a day. Despite the sin that so placates what seems to be any goodness on this Earth, it is only God’s presence in some form that there is any good at all on this dry and dusty planet.

How fortunate are we not only to have the goodness of God affect this orb, but the righteousness, love and joy that the Holy Spirit brings when He indwells the believer. bb
